I always loved "The Jury Speaks" videos. Good insight, it's hilarious how everyone is always in a way too tight Billabong tank with their legs crossed in some weird-ass way. Same thing with the retrospective videos of the season that have some weird-ass song in the background like Chris Daughtry to try to make you feel sentimental.
Anyway thoughts going into Final Tribal were...I was voting for Lucy no matter what. I've been one of her biggest supporters since the merge and pretty much did the convincing to get the early jury on board with her. I knew she had the game by the balls and was playing the Penner strategy. No boot after I was voted out was shocking to me if you knew you were watching the game through Lucy's lens. This season's story is only complete if Lucy wins - in a season that pitted the newbs vs the vets, the newb that slayed all the vets was really the biggest vet of all.
I asked two questions of the jury and told them I would be judging them on the honesty of their answers. I have a flawed personality and played a flawed game.
1) Do you like me as a person? - If Adam or Zeke straight up said they hated my guts but played along because they knew they needed me (or something along those lines) I would have given them the second place vote for sure. However all they did was suck up to me. That either means 1) they ignored my request for honesty and thought i really wanted them to suck up to me or 2) they didn't notice any flaws in me in my time in the game. either one means no shot at the vote. Lucy said she'd grab a beer with me after the season, which I can't tell if it's genuinely serious (which given the ex-partying past would be serious) or if she's blowing smoke up my ass (didn't even list me on the half of the jury she liked best on another question). But she also pointed out arrogance which again put her above Adam & Zeke.
2) How could I have made it deeper in the game?
This question was entirely for Lucy. I didn't feel like I needed to pile on the hate to Adam & Zeke so I didn't want to just get Lucy's opinion, but TBH didn't think Adam or Zeke would offer anything worthwhile to say here. Basically, I really respect Lucy's game sense so I wanted to hear her opinion on how I could have played better and if there's anything I didn't think of improving for next go, whenever the fuck that may be. All three of them said in some capacity "don't tell people about the idol!", which is like, true, but not exactly what I was looking for. If I don't tell people about the idol, I don't magically make the end, although it may have delayed my target by like two votes. Lucy gave me one more really good one - how I handle information told to me in confidence. I did really play the game like I was forming a knowledge bank for me and my allies, which works great in the premerge, but in the postmerge there's enough incestuous relationships that it's harder to do that. I thought that telling Danni things told to me in confidence would keep her close to me, but all it did was make Lucy not trust me or Danni. Drew really killed it on this front - he may have trusted me pretty heavily, but he still didn't tell anyone about Ryan's idol. It was that kind of attitude that let him be the fourth in Lucy's alliance and be one challenge from winning. Something definitely to keep in mind in the (many) years ahead.
Other people's answers - I didn't delve too deeply but everybody else's thread backs up my exact thoughts. A snoozer of an end to a decent season but we should have a satisfying winner here and I am looking forward to getting back out on the co-hosting front!
